Three skaters from the Border Skating Club travelled to Sault Ste. Marie to compete at the Festival of Stars—2007 Skate Canada Northern Ontario STARSkate Championships this past weekend.
Sophie Potvin-Begin, Michael Nelson, and Jillian Bobczynski each made the trip in hopes of qualifying for the Trillium STARSkate All-Ontario Championships.
All three were successful and now will represent the Northern Ontario Section in Waterloo this coming weekend (March 10-11).
Potvin-Begin and Nelson won gold in Introductory Pairs. Nelson also will compete in the Junior Bronze men’s freeskate event.
Bobczynski, meanwhile, placed third out of 48 skaters to qualify for the Preliminary Ladies’ freeskate event.
