It was a successful day in Kenora yesterday afternoon as three of the four Muskie court team came away with victories in their final regular-season contests against the Broncos before the NorWOSSA playoffs.
The junior girls’ basketball squad extended their winning streak to six thanks to a 30-20 victory over Kenora, which improved their league record to 6-1.
But the senior girls dropped a tightly-contested 19-15 decision to the host Broncos, which left them with a 2-5 record heading into the final game of the regular season here next Tuesday (Nov. 1) against Dryden.
Meanwhile, both boys’ volleyball teams were victorious over Kenora.
The juniors improved to 3-4 with a five-set triumph (25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 13-25, and 15-13) while the seniors (also 3-4) snapped a two-match losing streak in their five-set victory (23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, and 15-8).
While all four teams will close out the regular season here Tuesday, three of them will be participating in tournaments over the weekend.
The junior girls are hosting a tournament today and tomorrow, with the black-and-gold playing three games during the round-robin event.
After opening against St. Ignatius this afternoon, Fort High will face St. Patrick’s tonight at 6:30 p.m., with their final game set for Saturday at 10 a.m. against Rainy River.
Both boys’ volleyball teams will be in Winnipeg to face some of the top programs in Manitoba.
The NorWOSSA playoffs are slated for Nov. 10 in Dryden.
