Thomson falls short in LPGA qualifier


Local golfer Christin Thomson fell short in her bid to advance to the next round of the LPGA qualifying tournament Friday in Venice, Fla.
She finished the second stage of q-school with a four-round total score of 324, which was 36 shots over par.
Only the top 70 golfers advanced to the third stage of q-school, with a score of 294 (five-over par) proving to the be final cutline for the ladies looking to make it onto the tour.
In her final round Friday, Thomson was able to get into the 70s with a five-over 77 on the par-72 Plantation Golf and Country Club course, which was her best score of the tournament.
Her three previous rounds saw Thomson card scores of 84, 81, and 82.
