Jack Thompson fired a 75 to earn a two-stroke victory over Tom Bennett in a seniors’ tournament last Wednesday at Kitchen Creek Golf Course.
Bennett’s 77 was the low gross score in the championship flight, one stroke better than Freddie Beck and Grant Green. Dick Burnett had the low net score (68), followed by Dan Zeleny (70) and Dan Livingston (72).
Earl Anderson took low gross honours in the first flight with an 80, beating out Cal Thorpe, who also shot an 80, on a countback. Gord Taggart was next at 81.
Fred Sinclair had the low net score in the first flight (69), followed by Conrad Lemieux (69) and Dale Lind (70).
Nelson Rogoza carded an 84 to earn low gross honours in the second flight. Ernie Ling was second (86) while Ike Eisenzoph was third (88).
Steve Melnychuk had the low net score (68), followed by Ron Speck (70) and Pat Skillen (74).
Ed Mason was well ahead of the pack in the third flight, firing an 83 to take low gross honours. Bob Green was next (89), with Mel McFayden third (91).
Bud Hebert had the low net score (70), finishing ahead of Cliff Robertson (73) and Dave Halliday (74).
Al Heskins had an 86 for the low gross score in the fourth flight, followed by Conrad Gould (90) and Bob Krantz (92). Brian Avis had the low net score (68), with Bert Chartrand second (71) and Jack Booth third (72).
Don Hammond fired a 90 to win low gross honours in the fifth flight, followed by Ron Martinuk (94) and Louie Decaire (96). Andre Sharron had the low net (69), finishing ahead of Roly Crawford (71) and Jack Cox (73).
Doug Boyd carded a 97 for low gross in the sixth flight, followed by Ike Eisenhauer (98) and Jack Mattson (100). Roy Morrow had the best net score (70), just ahead of Jim Plumridge (71) and Dave Gregory (75).
Closest-to-the-hole winners were Ben Krantz (#5), Gord Taggart (#7) and Dan Admunsen (#11).
