The smoke cleared, literally and figuratively, to allow an ever-improving and ever-increasing number of skeet participants at the FFSC Tuesday night shoot. Especially so, when longtime member Paul Fischer returned, accompanied by his eager daughter, Kathryn, who jumped into the first round under the always capable guidance of skeet President, Brad Houghton. It was certainly gratifying to your writer, who began the sport as a teen! Kudos, Kathryn!
The club received swatches from Brad McRae today to be awarded ONLY to 25/25 – a perfect round – yet to happen at this late stage in the season! But, Houghton shot 7 of 8 stations with perfection and was about to seal the first PERFECT 25 until he surprised everyone with a miss with three shots left to net out the still great score of 23/25 matched by the good Dr. Jeremy McGuire who posted 21/25. Reg Weks got 19/25,Jackson Tucker 22/25, Brian Mueller 19&22, Houghton another 23 and your writer,19. Quantity in 2021 has not produced quality as the first perfect 25/25 lurks around next week’s event !OR, does it…? Soon, folks, soon!
