Saturday night’s exhibition game between the Fort Frances Thunderhawks and Kenora Thistles has been cancelled due to a lack of players for both sides.
“Both teams just ran into trouble getting players,” Thunderhawks’ manager Dean Bruyere said.
“Kenora just couldn’t field a decent team to come down here and some of our guys were involved in tournaments in Rochester and Atikokan, so they couldn’t play as a result,” he added.
With the cancellation officially marking an end to their exhibition slate for the season, the T’hawks now will focus on the Allan Cup tournament in Kenora, which runs April 11-16.
Prior to opening the tournament April 11 against an opponent from the Western region, the T’hawks will hold two practices on the Saturday, followed by a Sunday morning skate before heading up Highway 71 that afternoon.
