The Fort Frances Thunderhawks were in Kenora on the weekend to take on the host Thistles in a pair of games as both teams gear up for this year’s Allan Cup there next month.
Unfortunately for the T’hawks, they came out on the losing end in both contests—falling 5-1 on Saturday night and then 6-1 Sunday afternoon.
Kevin Webb scored in the third period Saturday to spoil Ryan Person’s shutout bid.
Matt Richards and Sean Hughes each had a goal and an assist to pace the Thistles on offence.
Then in Sunday’s matinee, Webb scored the lone goal for his team once again—this time in the opening period.
Jeff Richards led Kenora with two goals and an assist.
Both teams will square off once again next Saturday (March 12) at 7 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena here.
