It only can get better from here–or so Team Hockey Northwestern Ontario hopes.
Team HNO let 2-0 and 3-2 leads slip away en route to a 5-4 overtime loss to Team Greater Toronto Hockey League Blue in their first game at the OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener earlier today.
Nicholas Porco scored just 34 seconds into overtime to give GTHL Blue the win, although the overtime loss did give Team HNO its first-ever point in round-robin play at the Gold Cup.
Fort Frances resident Cooper Witherspoon was held without a point for Team HNO, which also has Emo native Luke Judson on the bench as an assistant coach.
Team HNO next clashed with Team Ontario Minor Hockey Association White this afternoon.
