Taylor misses out on first finals


Fort Frances Aquanaut Donovan Taylor failed to qualify for the finals in his first two events yesterday at the 2011 Canadian Age Group Championships in Montreal.
Taylor, 17, competing in the 17-18 male age category, placed 46th in the 100m butterfly heats with a time of 1:01.38.
He then was 19th in the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:15.52 in his heat.
The 10 fastest swimmers from the heats advanced to the finals, which were won by Zachary Fedak of Ajax (55.88 in the 100m fly) and Matthew Myers of Etobicoke (2:05.74 in the 200m back), respectively.
Taylor was back in the pool again this morning for the heats in the 400m I.M. event.
Results were not available as of press time.
The meet runs until Saturday, with Taylor also slated to compete in the 200m I.M., 50m and 200m fly, 100m backstroke, and the 200m breaststroke.
