Five Aquanauts attended the annual Prairie Winter International swim meet in Winnipeg over the weekend and came home with a slew of personal best times.
Donovan Taylor led the way, hauling in a Michael Phelps-eske nine medals, including a trifecta of gold to continue his torrid pace to the swim season so far.
Full results were as follows (* denotes a personal best):
•Jillian Gustafson—50m backstroke (38:42, 25th), 50m breaststroke (42.57*, 17th), 100m backstroke (1:19:80*, 27th), 200m IM (2:52:07, 28th), 200m backstroke (2:50:96*, 22nd), and 100m freestyle (1:12:18, 45th);
•Caitlin Sande—50m fly (34.67*, 15th), 200m freestyle (2:33:30*, 30th), 50m freestyle (31:62, 25th), 100m fly (1:24:50, 16th), 200m IM (2:58:53, 36th), and 100m freestyle (1:09:61, 32nd);
•Adam Stromberg—50m backstroke (42:81*), 50m breaststroke (46:47*), 200m freestyle (2:50:93*, 18th), 50m freestyle (33.79, 18th), and 100m freestyle (1:17:58, 18th);
•Katja Sutherland—50m breaststroke (41.89, 15th), 200m freestyle (2:48:53*, 43rd), 100m backstroke (1:26:35*, 38th), 200m breaststroke (3:24:99*, 19th), 100m breaststroke (1:32:15*, 18th), and 100m freestyle (1:16:04*, 55th); and
•Donovan Taylor—200m freestyle (2:03:54*, 2nd), 100m backstroke (1:04:12, 3rd), 50m freestyle (26:07, 1st), 400m IM (4:56:74*, 2nd), 100m fly (1:03:20, 2nd), 200m IM (2:17:93, 1st), 200m backstroke (2:18:14, 3rd), 100m breaststroke (1:16:42*, 2nd), and 100m freestyle (56.70*, 1st).
The Aquanauts came in 12th out of the 26 competing squads, and next host their own meet Jan. 9-11.
