Taggs’ wins home tourney

The local Taggs Bantam ‘AA’ hockey team won its home tournament after a 6-0 win against the Neebing Hawks in the final Sunday afternoon.
Goals by Tyler Barker and Shane Belluz about 30 seconds apart in the second period put Taggs up 4-0 and blew open a close game.
Barker blew by two defenders and then beat Hawks goalie Matt Peters glove high on the breakaway. Then Belluz took a feed from Justin Larson to go high again on a partial break.
Jamie Davis and Jared Catholique-Bruyere scored in the third period to ice the win. Tanner Kaemingh and Dan MacIntyre had put Taggs up 2-0 in the first.
Goalie Jason Green earned the shutout.
Taggs had beaten Baudette 8-3 in the semi-finals earlier Sunday after going 3-1 in round-robin play of their pool, opening with a 6-2 loss to Neebing on Friday morning before beating Bemidji 8-2, Red Lake 3-1, and South End (Thunder Bay) 3-2.
Kaemingh led Taggs in scoring with eight points (one goal/seven assists) while Dan MacIntyre scored a team-high five goals.
Barker, who was second in team scoring with seven points (three goals/four assists), was sent to Taggs on Friday morning by his Borderland Thunder coaching staff before that team went to Thunder Bay.
