Taggs’ holds steady atop rankings

It may be a slim lead atop the standings but Taggs’—the defending champs of the local men’s soccer league—is holding court.
Entering play this week, Taggs’ sported a record of 3-2-1, having edged ITS 2-1 in their lone game last week.
U-19 and Nova both sit at .500 with 2-2 and 1-1-1 records, respectively, while ITS is in last place at 1-3.
At last report, Steve Keesic (Nova) led the scoring race with five goals while Thor and Olaf Ruppenstein, both of Taggs’, have four each.
In women’s action, Curves (4-0-1) handed Gillons’ (5-1-1) their first loss of the season with a 5-2 victory last week. And MEC earned their first win of the year, beating Taggs’ 6-0.
The defending champions are now 1-4 while Taggs’ remains the only winless squad at 0-5.
Rebecca Cornell (Curves) doubled her goal input over the week and now has eight, one more than Laureen Cousineau (Gillons’).
Sarah Noonan and Lindsay Roy, both with Curves, each have five goals, followed by Keira Main (MEC) at four.
