The Fort Frances Taggs Bantam ‘AA’ team placed eighth out of 10 teams at the Maple Leaf Tournament of Champions last week.
The team had a rough weekend with one win, a tie, and two tough losses as well as losing two players to concussions.
In their first game, Taggs—playing as the home team—lost 8-2 to the Brandon Wheat Kings, with Danny Chapman scoring both goals for the locals.
Then on Friday, the team played two games, winning the first against the Regina Rangers 7-6 before battling the Regina Flyers to a 4-4 tie.
In their final game, Taggs lost 10-7 to the Morden Hawks. Matt McLellan tallied three assists in that one.
Andrew Easton of Taggs was third in tournament scoring with nine goals and three assists in four games, including five in the game versus the Hawks and a hat trick in their win against the Rangers.
Easton also led the team in penalty minutes with 10.
Ryan Faragher and Justin Pryde each played two games in goal for Taggs.
Morden dumped the Wheat Kings 6-1 to take first place while the Jamestown Icehawks came third.
