Tae Kwon Do wrap

On Saturday, five members from Northwest Tae Kwon Do clubs in Fort Frances and Stratton attended a tournament at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg.
The Can-Am Games tournament was hosted by Kang’s Tae Kwon Do academy of Winnipeg. There were almost 400 participants from Ontario, Manitoba, and Minnesota.
Team coach Master Ken Anderson was very pleased with his competitors’ efforts and their hard work earned every member a medal in the competition.
Back on March 24, two members from the Fort Frances club entered Master K. Scho’s tournament in Winnipeg. Tyler Abma (black belt) and Courtney Armstrong (green belt, blue stripe) both won gold medals in the forms competition.
The club next plans to attend the Iron Fist Tae Kwon Do club’s tournament May 16 in Winnipeg.
Classes are held at Fort Frances High School’s small gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. and 8:15-9:15 p.m., and at Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. and 8:15-9:15 p.m.
