Nine members of the Sunset Country Squash Club, including eight juniors and one adult, travelled to Thunder Bay last weekend to participate in the Thunder Bay Charity Classic in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
In the men’s ‘B’ division, Chad Faragher emerged as the consolation champ with three wins and one loss while Steve Boileau finished with two wins and a loss.
In the men’s ‘D’ division, 13-year-old Anniss Seid defeated his father, Salem, 3-1.
Coach Bob Tkachuk noted it was a touching moment. “They were hugging each other at the end,” he said.
In the Junior ‘A’ division, Donnie Brown won the consolation title by a 3-1 score while Ryan Brady blanked Joel Skirten 3-0 to take fourth place.
Kimika Alexander was the champ in the Junior ‘B’ final, defeating Bryson Skirten 3-1.
Tkachuk noted the junior squashers would attend one more tournament in Kenora this coming weekend to wrap up their season.
