Sunset Country brought home the banner from the provincial round of the Pins Over Average Classic, Executive, and High-Low Doubles tournament, which took place March 4-6 in North Bay.
Jeannie Townson of Fort Frances was a member of the Sunset Country contingent, earning a sixth-place finish in the P.O.A. portion of the tourney.
Rick Stamarski, meanwhile, coached Sunset Country’s other P.O.A. entry to a fourth-place finish.
The contingent, which also included bowlers from Atikokan, Dryden, and Kenora, accumulated 54 aggregate points en route to the banner—the first for Sunset Country since 2002.
Sunset Country took top honours in the executive portion of the tournament, where the president, treasurer, and secretary of each of the six associations square off head-to-head.
The High-Low doubles teams, meanwhile, placed second and fourth.
“They bowled just awesome,” enthused team manager Shirley Jensson of Fort Frances.
“The pin fall was just in our favour.”
