Summer camp opens on Friday

The Lakers’ organization has gone through a tough week in laying to rest our friend and assistant coach, Bob Mainville.
But we must be strong and forge forward knowing that Bob would want us to do what is best for the team as he was a good team man.
This week brings our summer camp at Bronco Arena over in International Falls, which will feature a bunch of young prospects looking for the chance to join our veterans, new signees, and players from out-of-town at the main training camp later this summer.
The camp opens Friday (July 16) with registration from 7:15-8:15 p.m., followed by ice time from 8:45-10:15 p.m.
Ice time on Saturday runs from 10:30 a.m.-noon and 7-8:30 p.m., with the camp wrapping up Sunday with ice time from 10:30 a.m.-noon.

The Lakers would like to send a big thank you to all the volunteers from the board, fan club, and fans who helped out with the pancake breakfast and golf tourney at Heron Landing on Saturday.
We also send a big thank you to all who came out and supported both events. Without your help and support, we wouldn’t be able to hold events like these.
Thanks again, and congratulations to Chuck McPherson, Dan Mainville, Brian Johnstone, and Ed Yerxa on winning the event.
It was a hot day out on the course but a fun time was had reflecting on memories of our two good friends who recently passed away.
Our next fundraiser golf tournament is slated for Sept. 11 at Kitchen Creek. Stay tuned for more information.

Huge news has come the SIJHL’s way as USA Hockey has announced it will allow two expansion teams to enter from Spooner, Wis. and Duluth, Mn.
This is awesome for our fans, teams, and players as this only will make our league stronger, a better place for players to come and play, as well as add some exciting rivalries.
A big day for all who have worked hard for this to happen.
A huge thank you goes out to all the fans, team members, and loyal hockey people who put out the word of the importance of this expansion happening.
