The Sabaskong Cubs’ playoff positioning took a hit in RRDFL make-up action last night.
The Cubs (10-7) were blanked 11-0 by the host Stratton Eagles (9-9), and have now lost three in a row heading into the league’s final regular-season game against the Big Grassy Lightning (12-5), who can tie the Sight & Sound Wolves for second place with a victory.
Sabaskong, meanwhile, can finish either fifth or sixth after their late-season free-fall.
Tom Armstrong blasted a home run for Stratton last night to provide the main offensive spark for winning pitcher Guy Arpin.
Kevin Copenace was tagged with the loss.
In related news, the RRDFL playoffs have been bumped back a week.
Action now is slated to start next Tuesday (July 27) with four games on tap.
As well, the league’s all-star game is planned for the following week (Aug. 3) in Stratton.
