For a third-straight year both the WISSOTA Modifieds and Midwest Modifieds divisions have seen the same face hoisting the points trophy.
Both Brody Strachan of Emo and Cody Ossachuk of Fort Frances are kings of the hill again as they claimed the crowns by putting in stellar seasons during Borderland Racing Association action at the Speedway.
Despite finishing as the runner-up to Brady Caul of the Fort in the season finale feature on Saturday night, Strachan’s 1,592 points were good enough to give him another crown over Tyler Brown of Rainy River (1,425).
Jeff Davis of Devlin wound up third in Saturday’s feature while Brown was fourth and Brandon Pelepetz of Emo rounded out the top five.
Tanner Williamson of the Fort cruised to his division leading seventh checkered flag in WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds action but Ossachuk–who finished as the runner-up on Saturday–was able to take the points title home for the third-straight year as his 12 top-five finishes were good enough to land him 1,491 points.
James Lambert of the Fort was second (1,414), Mike Wilson of Devlin was third (1,354), while Williamson was fourth (1,223).
Dayton Brady (Devlin) was third in Saturday’s feature race while Lambert was fourth and Wilson rounded out the top five.
In Street Stocks action, meanwhile, Raice Westover of the Fort was able to secure his first-ever points title as he topped the division with 1,563 points–123 more than defending champ Tylar Wilson of the Fort (1,563-1,440).
Jesse Thompson of Emo was third (1,427), Jyllian Westover of the Fort was fourth (1,395), followed by Doug Derendorf of the Fort (1,072).
Wilson did manage to claim the checkered flag over Raice Westover in the feature on Saturday night, however, while David Caruk of Thunder Bay was third.
Jyllian Westover took fourth while Thompson rounded out the top five.
Another great racing season will officially come to a close when the Borderland Racing Association hosts its annual awards banquet on Nov. 2.
At the Lake of the Woods Speedway in Kenora on Friday, meanwhile, Williamson claimed another feature win at the track with the high-flying Nick Audette of St. Adolphe, Man. battling door-to-door for much of the race.
The crowd were on the edge of their seats and in complete awe as the two swapped the lead several times before coming to the white flag.
The WISSOTA Pure Stocks also had an amazing heat and feature with Patrick Davis, Les McRae, and Gary Feeleus swapping positions.
In the end, it was Feeleus taking the feature win, which had a fair share of tight action.
In 4-Cylinders action, Zach Demers was able to take the win after race leader Wanda Marshall started to overheat and was forced to retire early. Rookie Kiley Berringer made her racing debut and fared well, completing both the heat and the feature.
Racing returns to the LOTW Speedway this Friday for “Track Championship Night.” Hot laps start at 7 p.m. with racing to follow around 7:20.
