A tourist outfitter operating in the Hornepayne area has pleaded guilty to various offences relating to baitfish.
The company was fined a total of $2,000 as a part of a negotiated guilty plea.
Granitehill Resorts Inc. was fined $1,000 for unlawfully harvesting baitfish without a licence and $1,000 for unlawfully selling the baitfish to its clients.
Court heard that in early June, 2010, conservation officers visited Granitehill Lodge to conduct a routine commercial baitfish inspection.
As a result of the inspection, it was determined the lodge had been harvesting and selling baitfish to its clients without a valid commercial bait licence.
A number of baitfish traps and baitfish were seized as a result of the investigation.
The traps will be returned once the fines have been paid.
