Fort Frances Lakers’ captain Tyler Stevenson has been named the SIJHL’s first Sportop Marketing performer of the month for the 2010-11 season.
In 16 games played in September and October, Stevenson notched 15 goals and five assists.
He also put together an eight-game goal-scoring streak and a nine-game points streak.
Stevenson also lead the league in power-play goals with 10 and points with 13, playing a driving force in the Lakers’ top-ranked man-advantage operation.
Stevenson, a 20-year-old from Edmonton, also takes part in the Lakers’ Adopt-A-School program where Laker players visit local schools and meet with children.
Stevenson is scheduled to be honoured at a future game.
The Lakers open a quick two-game homestand tonight against the Duluth Clydesdales at 7:30 p.m. at Ice For Kids Arena.
They’ll also battle the Wisconsin Wilderness on Tuesday night.
