A great day was had by all participants in the 41st-annual Church Curling Bonspiel held yesterday at the Fort Frances Curling Club and sponsored by Green Funeral Home.
When all the points were tallied, the St. Mary’s Catholic Church team from Fort Frances (consisting of Paul Fraser, Neil Whitefield, Gary Gregory, and Aarne Hahkala) were crowned the champions.
Coming in a close second was St. Thomas Catholic Church of International Falls (consisting of Dave Johnson, Jim Wherley, Jack Buettner, and Carol Wherley).
Plans already were discussed for next year’s event and possibly having it held on the third Monday of February to coincide with the new Family Day holiday in Ontario as well as Presidents Day in the United States.
