Following three-consecutive defeats to open the NorWOSSA season, the Muskie senior girls’ volleyball team made certain they weren’t going into the exam break with a goose egg in the win column.
The black-and-gold came out firing on all cylinders here yesterday, beating the Kenora Broncos in four set (25-21, 19-25, 25-20, and 25-20) for their first league victory.
The juniors were able to shove aside the visitors, as well, also winning in four sets (25-16, 22-25, 25-17 and 25-11) to improve to 3-1.
In basketball action, the Muskie senior boys bounced back from a loss in Dryden on Tuesday afternoon in convincing fashion, cruising to a 40-23 triumph over visiting Kenora yesterday.
Will Anderson had 12 points to lead the black-and-gold, who now sport a 3-1 record.
But the junior squad was not as fortunate, falling to 2-2 on the season with a 28-20 setback to the Broncos.
Darren Lundgren had a 14-point effort to lead the Muskies.
All four teams won’t resume NorWOSSA play until Jan. 31, but the hoopsters are in Thunder Bay for a tournament starting today while the spikers are in Kenora.
