John LaPlante forever will remain famous in the annals of Lakehead Thunderwolves’ history officially as of Saturday.
The Emo resident will be added to Lakehead’s Wall of Fame as one of two inductees in the male athlete category.
LaPlante played for the Thunderwolves men’s basketball team from 1984-87 and again from 1988-90.
The Wall of Fame website page described him as one of the top scorers in Lakehead history and “a tough guard who led by example and pushed his teammates to the best of their abilities.”
LaPlante was selected Lakehead University Athlete of the Year in 1989 and was a second team all-star multiple times in his career.

The Fort Frances Fire HOOPS basketball youth league is off to a rousing start at Fort High, with two weeks of action now in the books.
It was the Toronto Raptors downing the Golden State Warriors 19-9 in the large gym while the San Antonio Spurs outgunned the Miami Heat 29-20 in the small one in Week 1 on Sept. 17.
Then this past Sunday, the Spurs (2-0) won a first-place showdown with the Raptors (1-1) by a score of 16-12.
The Warriors (1-1), meanwhile, were pushed in the first half by the Heat (0-2) before pulling away for a 26-8 victory.
Action continues this Sunday, with the Heat facing the Raptors at 5:45 p.m. and the Warriors taking on the Spurs at 6:50 p.m.
