The Gavel Racing Team was in Kenora last weekend, where John Gavel took first place in all three of his heats. He also came first in the final for both the 30+ and Masters divisions, but was fifth in the 30+ Open.
Danny Gavel placed second in the Semi-Pro 600, Semi-Pro 440, and Semi-Pro Open divisions while Rob Gavel finished with a third in the Semi-Pro 600, fourth in both the Semi-Pro 440 and Semi-Pro Open.
Kyle Gavel placed third in the Vintage class while Janette Gavel finished fourth in the Diva class.

The local MacDonald GM Wild (IP2) were in Kenora for a Novice hockey tournament two weekends ago and won the ‘C’ side.

At a 20-team tournament in Kenora two weekends ago, the local KFC Colonels were knocked out in the ‘A’ side semi-finals with a 3-2 loss to Kenora Pro-Auto.
After opening the tournament with a 7-4 win over the Dryden Stars, they beat Red Lake 5-1 and then edged Kenora Zellers 4-3, which left them in first place after round-robin play.
In the playoff round, the Colonels beat the Stars again, this time by a score of 4-1, but then lost to Kenora Pro-Auto.
