Before any cars can to take to the track at the Emo Speedway this season, the grounds itself will have to be in tip-top shape for both the fans and drivers.
As such, the Borderland Racing Association will be holding its annual workbee this Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. to help clean up the facilities before the first on-track action can take place—a practice session set for Saturday, May 14 (weather permitting).
“A major clean of both the announcer booth and the canteens, along with putting a new coat of paint on both the frontstretch guardrail and the flag stand, will be the main things we want to get done out there,” said track promoter Anthony Leek said.
“In terms of the new lightning system on the frontstretch, and if we’ll be getting that set up on Saturday, that’ll depend on whether we get all of our ducks in a row,” he added
“But no matter what, everyone’s more than welcome to come and volunteer their time.”
The 2011 racing season is slated to get underway on Saturday, May 21.
