The Fort Frances Lakers are bringing back another forward for the upcoming SIJHL season.
The local Junior ‘A’ squad announced yesterday it has re-signed Patrick Sofer.
Sofer, a 19-year-old from Park Ridge, Ill., had 30 points in 48 games for the Lakers last season after joining the team from the MJHL’s Portage Terriers early in the campaign.
“Much like Mason Meyer, Patrick will be looked upon to play a key role for us up front and to produce offensively,” Lakers’ head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan noted.
“As he will be a 20-year-old when the season begins, we will look to him to be a leader in the dressing room, and for him to also bring his speed and skill,” he added.
Sofer is the third returning player to sign for the Lakers so far this off-season.
The squad retained the services of Meyer and Hunter Leishman following the team’s annual prospect camp this past weekend.
The Lakers also have signed former International Falls Broncos’ forward Lucas Debenedet and former Muskie blueliner Brandon Sinclair.
