It could be double title night at the Struchan Gilson Memorial Soccer Pitch this evening.
The Borderland Soccer League men’s division champion will be crowned when Centra Pipelines takes on CJ Contracting at 6:30 p.m.
Top-seeded Centra advanced to the title match after a 1-0 victory over fourth-ranked Pharmasave on Tuesday, giving them a 5-0 win on aggregate over the two-leg semifinal.
Jeff Hyatt followed his two-goal effort from Game 1 with the only tally of the contest on Tuesday for Centra.
Tyler Hamm earned the victory with the shutout in goal, while Steve Hands suffered the loss for Pharmasave.
The other semifinal saw CJ edge Manitou Forest Products 3-2 on Tuesday to claim the aggregate title by a 6-2 margin after a 3-0 win last Thursday (Aug. 3).
Ian Jodoin, Kirk Johnson and Aaron Bujold had the markers for CJ on Tuesday, with Cole Kowalski picking up the win between the pipes.
Nick Hahkala and Carter Chorney replied for Manitoiu, with Ben Whitburn and Jacob Albright splitting the netminding duties.
Game 2 of the best-of-three women’s division final between La Place Rendez-Vous/Taggs and Al’s Racquet Stringing was due to be held last night, but was postponed because of the inclement weather earlier in the day.
That match will also be held tonight at 6:30 p.m., with Vous/Taggs holding a 1-0 lead in the series after a 10-8 victory last Wednesday (Aug. 2).
If Al’s can even the series, the decisive Game 3 will be held at a still undetermined date.
