About 50 cross-country skiing and fitness enthusiasts met at the site of the new Rainy Lake Nordic Ski Club’s chalet on Saturday, Nov. 4 to participate in a “fun-raiser” for the club.
More than $1,500 was raised to support the construction of the chalet, which will be used to support club functions and serve as a meeting place for the upcoming ski season.
Several individuals also have made donations in support of the project.
After walking the trail system, participants were treated to hot chili and refreshments.
The Rainy Lake Nordic Ski Club trails and chalet are located off Rocky Inlet Road. The system consists of 11 km of groomed trails for both classic and skating technique.
Several club members hold qualifications in ski instruction.
