Club gearing
for ice show
Two members of the local Border Skating Club were in Mississauga over the weekend for the Ontario Trillium Cup and Trillium StarSKATE provincial championships.
Michael Nelson finished in eighth overall in the Trillium Cup’s Pre-Novice Men event, which was won by Thunder Bay skater Jarret Melanson.
Meanwhile, Nelson’s pairs partner, Sophie Potvin-Begin, ended up with a 12th-place showing in the Junior Silver Women competition at the Trillium StarSKATE competition.
Local skaters now are gearing up for the club’s 39th-annual ice show, which is slated for Saturday, April 2 at 7 p.m. and again Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
This year’s theme is “Legends.”
Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $15 for a weekend pass (kids five and under are free).
Tickets are available in advance at Skates & Blades and the front desk of the Memorial Sports Centre.
They also will be available on the night of the dress rehearsal, as well as at the door.
