Here’s hoping those associated with the Border Skate Club have vehicles with large trunks because they needed them at the Keewatin meet Jan. 29-31.
The local club brought home three team awards: the Don Wilton Trophy (highest point total), the Ignace Trophy (highest average point total), and the Roxanne Gordon Trophy (most team spirit).
The Fort High team also captured the trophies for highest point total and highest average point total in its division.
In addition, the club boasted some fine individual performances from the weekend.
Jillian Bobczynski captured the Veronica Hall Trophy for open competitive champion, as well as the Artistic Impression crown.
Avery Wilson-Hands brought home the Preliminary Champion award, with Alexa Kadikoff and Joleigh Hayes splitting the Junior Bronze Champion trophy.
Border skaters also notched several first-place finishes in specific divisions.
Michael Nelson finished first in the open competitive short category and gold creative skills while Ashley Croswell won the pre-introductory interpretive division.
Bobczynski won the open competitive free skate and introductory interpretive divisions, with Alina Eldridge taking first in the pre-preliminary jumps and introductory spins categories.
MacKenzie Arnstrong won the pre-introductory elements and pre-introductory freeskate divisions while Lexi Caul captured the pre-preliminary elements and pre-preliminary freeskate championships.
Jenna Wilson took home the titles in silver interpretive, junior bronze elements, and junior bronze jumps, with Jayde Wright winning the introductory elements and junior bronze dance divisions.
Wilson-Hands won the preliminary elements, preliminary jumps, and preliminary freeskate categories while Brianna Eldridge was first in the pre-introductory spins division.
Kelli Cole captured the pre-preliminary spins and junior silver dance titles, with Kayla Michl and Samantha Westover sharing the Canskate 4 crown.
Kiela Ford was the senior silver dance champion and Sierra Cousineau won the gold/diamond dance division.
Finally, Hayes and Kadikoff tied for the junior bronze freeskate title.
Emma Keeler, Sophie Potvin-Begin, Lizzie Klem, Jamie Spencer, and Ashley Dupuis also won medals over the weekend.
