Sioux Narrows duo bass tourney there

Joe Pritchett and Hiram Archibald of Sioux Narrows teamed up to capture top honours–and the $2,500 first prize–at this year’s “Bassin’ for Bucks” tournament there last weekend.
Their three-day total of 45.64 pounds was less than a pound better than the 44.86-pound haul by the Thunder Bay team of Glenn Leroux and Dan Cheal, who took home $1,500.
Rounding out the top five were Gonvie Graham-George Parkes of Keewatin (43.42 pounds), Tim Hull-Norm Klopak of Winnipeg (43.32), and Dave Struk-R. Foster of Kenora (42.06).
Dave Lindsay-Corinne Lindsay of Sioux Narrows were sixth (41.40 pounds), followed by Mike Salvador-Steve Salvador of Sioux Narrows (40.76), Jeff Gustafson-Mike Reid of Kenora/Sioux Narrows (39.61), Michael Causyn-Terry Spaeth of Kenora/Minneapolis (39.44), and Joe Freedy-Wayne Wagner of Winnipeg (39.28).
Rick Savage-Fred Curwain of Kenora led the pack after the first day Friday with a 18.04-pound total, which included the big fish of the day (5.52 pounds).
The best catch on day two Saturday was weighed in by Freedy-Wagner (16.32 pounds) while Cos Costa-Scott Hamilton of Thunder Bay had the big fish (5.50 pounds).
Bringing in the heaviest weight on the final day Sunday was the team of Causyn-Spaeth (16.28 pounds).
Sunday’s big fish of 4.52 pounds was caught by the team of Greg Zdep-Ray Pearson of Kenora/Keewatin.
The tourney attracted a record 66 entries this year.
