Silver for Lightning

The local Rolling Lake Lightning Atom girls’ hockey team was in Hibbing, Mn. over the weekend, where they came away with a silver-medal showing.
After finishing the round-robin with a perfect 3-0 record, the Lightning clashed with the powerful Waconia Wildcats in the final, where they would come out on the losing end of a 10-4 score.
Annalise Hayes led the way for the Lightning in the final with a pair of goals while Kelsey Langtry and Maighyn DeGagne also tallied.
The Lightning had kicked off the tournament with a 10-0 thrashing of Cloquet, with Hayes pacing the offence with five goals and an assist.
The team then followed that up with an 8-5 triumph over Hutchinson, with Hayes notching another five goals in the seesaw battle.
Hayes, however, would save her best for the final round-robin game, scoring an eye-popping 10 goals in the Lightning’s 12-5 romp over River Lakes.
Kendra Calder and Hailey Tucker netted the other two goals.
