The Northern Storm raged through its opposition before being silenced by a pack of Terriers.
Fort Frances residents Piper Miller, Kiera Fairnington, and Eva Gerstner helped the Storm regional team reach the final in the 10U Tier 1 division of the USA International Hockey Cup ‘AAA’ Tournament in Blaine, Mn. over the weekend.
Once there, the Storm ran smack into the Terrebonne Terriers, who breezed through the round-robin to earn a bye to the final and then blanked the Storm 7-0.
The Storm went 3-1 during the round-robin, starting with a 5-3 loss to the Terriers.
Miller had an assist in that game.
The Storm then skated to a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Nordiques, with Miller notching a goal, before beating the Gentry Astros 6-2 as Gerstner lit the lamp once.
The Storm then hammered Rapid Fire 7-0, with Fairnington getting in on the action with an assist.
In the semi-final, Miller netted her second goal of the tournament as the Storm whitewashed the Astros 4-0.

They opened with a 9-1 victory over Rapid Fire 9-1 before losing back-to-back games to Machine Orange 4-1 and Minnesota Ice Cougars Black 3-1.
Another shot at the Cougars came up empty for the Storm in a 2-1 semi-final loss.
