Sight & Sound still unbeaten

Sight & Sound (8-0) built upon their fast early-season start with a 4-3 win over Pinewood, then nipped Barwick by a 6-5 margin, to tighten their grip atop the Rainy River District Fastball League.
The top guns also posted a 9-0 shutout over Big Grassy on May 27, then slammed Stratton by a 14-5 margin May 29.
Stratton also fell 6-2 to Big Grassy on May 26 and 7-0 to Barwick the following night, but finally broke its losing skid with a 4-2 win over Big Island on June 3.
Barwick, which had whitewashed Big Grassy 12-0 on May 29, had a tough time last week, falling 5-3 to second-place Rainy River before losing to Sight & Sound.
Rainy Lake went unbeaten last week, edging Big Grassy 2-1 on June 3 and then playing Big Island to a 3-3 draw.
Sight & Sound leads Rainy River (4-1) by eight points in the standings, although the runners-up have three games in hand.
Pinewood (4-2) sits alone in third, followed by Barwick (3-5), Rainy Lake (2-3-1), and Big Island (2-4-1). Stratton (2-5) is only one game ahead of basement-dwelling Big Grassy (1-6).
Sight & Sound teammates Don Copenace, Duane Carlson, and Ed Vold lead the home run race with three apiece.
Last night’s schedule had Stratton at Rainy River, Big Grassy visiting Big Island, Pinewood travelling to Barwick, and Sight & Sound heading to Rainy Lake.

League action resumes tomorrow night (Thursday) with Pinewood hosting Stratton, Big Island on the road against Sight & Sound, Rainy River journeying to Big Grassy, and Barwick setting a course for Rainy Lake.
