Shooting wolf costly

A Wisconsin man was $1,500 for offences related to wolf hunting.
Scott Jorgensen of Hayward pleaded guilty to illegally hunting a fur-bearing mammal without a licence, abandoning the pelt, and making a false statement to a conservation officer.
Court heard that back on Nov. 14, Jorgensen shot a timber wolf while hunting deer on private land in the Dryden area.
He did not have a valid wolf seal.
He dragged the wolf into the woods and left it partially-concealed under some trees.
A conservation officer found the wolf and, through an investigation, determined Jorgensen had shot the animal and left it to spoil.
Jorgensen initially denied shooting the wolf.
Justice of the Peace Pat Clysdale-Cornell heard the case June 21 in Dryden.
