Seniors hoopsters perfect at tourney

The Muskie senior girls’ basketball team walked off the court here last weekend with a perfect record–and they’re hoping to keep it that way for the rest of the season.
“Overall, I am happy with how the girls played,” enthused head coach Paul Noonan. “Unfortunately, they weren’t challenged to a large degree and weren’t able to put into practice the things that I would have liked to try.”
In their first game Friday night, the Muskies walked all over the Kenora Broncos 51-13. Heather Mihichuk and Siobhan Devlin led the way with eight points each, followed by Danielle McGee and Kelly Crawford with six apiece.
Rounding out the scoring were Chrissy Thomson (five), Jamie Whitecrow, Sarah Noonan, Carly Barton and Marina Bolieau (four each), and Hope Wilson (two).
Later Friday, the black-and-gold drubbed Sioux Lookout 62-18, paced by Whitecrow’s 16 points and 14 more from Devlin.
Also scoring were Noonan (eight), Crawford and Barton (six each), McGee and Thomson (four apiece), and Mihichuk and Marina Boileau (two each).
It was the same story Saturday, with the Muskies first dumping Ignace 48-13 led by 10-point performances by Noonan and Whitecrow.
Mihichuk added six points, with Crawford, Devlin, McGee, and Thomson all getting four points each. Barton, Boileau, and Nicole Jewell chipped in two points apiece.
In their final game Saturday, which proved to be their closest, the Muskies came away with a 45-25 win over the Dryden Eagles.
Noonan led the way with 19 points, followed by Devlin (12), Barton (six), McGee (four), and Crawford and Thomson (two each).
Coach Paul Noonan remarked the girls weren’t playing full out in the final game against Dryden.
