Senior spikers sweep Eagles

The Muskie senior boys’ volleyball team picked up their first victory of the NorWOSSA season yesterday afternoon, sweeping the best-of-five match with the Dryden Eagles by scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-20.
The win avenged a loss to Dryden–in which the Eagles overcame a 2-0 deficit–to open the season here last month.

The turning point came in the third game with the Muskies leading 23-19. On the verge of sweeping the match, the black-and-gold couldn’t put the game away, allowing Dryden to score the final six points for a 25-19 victory.
The Eagles then took the next two games by scores of 25-18 and 15-8.
In basketball action, the senior girls’ improved their NorWOSSA record to 3-0 with a 40-33 win over the Dryden Eagles yesterday.
The team once again jumped out to an early lead–16-5 by the end of the first quarter–and then hung on the rest of the way, using several players from their bench.
Sarah Noonan led all scorers with 13 points while Laureen Cousineau netted 11.
In junior hoop action, the Muskies pulled out a 27-25 squeaker over the Eagles to improve to 2-1 on the season. The black-and-gold trailed 15-9 at halftime but came on strong to edge the host Eagles.
