They’ve still got it.
Twelve of the top men’s and women’s senior rinks from across Northwestern Ontario will be competing at the Fort Frances Curling Club beginning tomorrow (Jan. 7) at 2:30 p.m.
The last scheduled draw is set for Sunday at 9:30 a.m., although tiebreakers may need to be played first after the round-robin portion is finished.
On the men’s side, local rinks skipped by Don DeBenedet and Ken McKinnon will join three other rinks looking to topple former Brier and world champion Al Hackner.
Judy Labelle’s rink heads the local contingent on the women’s side.
The two winning teams will advance to the senior provincials in Blind River from Feb. 25-28.
The national showdown is scheduled for March 20-27 in Ottawa, with the worlds to take place April 16-24 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
Admission is free and spectators are welcome.
