Senior hoopsters win first

The Muskie senior boys’ basketball team notched their first win of the NorWOSSA season when they beat the host Kenora Broncos 45-42 yesterday.
Morgan Anderson led the Muskie attack with 20 points.
Head coach Paul Noonan said the black-and gold are playing much better at this point in the season.
Unfortunately, the junior team lost an equally close game, falling to the host Broncos 35-32.
Talbot Johnson netted 11 points in a losing cause while Travis Stromness and Garnet Cornell each chipped in nine.
Meanwhile, both Muskie girls’ volleyball squads lost their matches yesterday in Kenora.
The juniors took the Broncos to the full five sets, which made head coach Jeff Rajala very proud of the team’s performance.
The seniors, on the other hand, were swept in their best-of-five match.
The court teams resume NorWOSSA action next Thursday (Feb. 9) when they host those same Broncos.
In related news, the Muskie senior boys’ basketball team is in Nipigon this weekend for a tournament. They tipped off action this afternoon against the Westgate Tigers (Thunder Bay).
And the Muskie boys’ hockey team is 2-0 at a tournament in Winnipeg, winning their first game 6-1 and their second 8-2.
