Lisa Penner is liking the looks of Fredericton more and more by the minute.
The Fort Frances resident is playing third on Kenora skip Peggy Taylor’s Northern Ontario rink, which is cruising so far with a 3-0 record in Pool ‘B’ at the 2017 Everest senior women’s curling championship.
Their latest success came earlier today with a 5-4 victory over Manitoba (2-1), with Taylor scoring one with her last rock in the eighth and final end.
Northern Ontario opened play yesterday with a 5-3 win over Newfoundland and Labrador before pulling off an 8-6 triumph over Alberta’s Cathy King (0-2) in the same rink the 1998 Scotties women’s national champion captured the 2013 world senior title.
Northern Ontario takes on Saskatchewan’s Sherry Anderson later today, then wraps up the preliminary round tomorrow against Quebec and the Northwest Territories.
The top four teams in each of the two pools advance to the championship pool, which gets underway Thursday.
