Segments on area fishing set to air

Press Release

The popular television fishing show, “Getting Hooked with Aaron & Barry,” travelled to Fort Frances and Emo back in July to take in all the fishing that’s offered in this area.
They were invited by professional angler Harvey Cochrane and the Rainy River First Nations to film three shows for their 2009 series.
Aaron Shirley and Barry Pringle made a lot of new friends during their stay, and thought the fishing was absolutely spectacular.
“The people from Fort Frances and Emo are such great people, and the Emo Inn was such a fantastic place to stay,” Shirley said.
“We couldn’t have experienced better fishing, accommodations, and people, and we can’t wait to go back to the area and go fishing again,” he enthused.
The pair had a terrific experience visiting the Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre near Stratton, and were fascinated by all the native history. In fact, they took a full day out of their busy filming schedule to visit the historical centre and famous burial grounds on location.
Both Shirley and Pringle learned a lot about the history of native people, and thought the historical centre was a great experience.
“I love the area, and I would also love to fish the big bass tournament in Fort Frances,” Pringle said. “Everyone was great to us, the fishing was unbelievable, and the food at Emo Inn was incredible.
“The only person that could finish the Nacho Grande was Aaron.”
“The episodes that we filmed for ‘Getting Hooked’ on Rainy Lake and Rainy River were really easy as the fishing was just that good,” noted Shirley.
Both said they can’t wait until they have an opportunity to cast a line in Rainy Lake again.
“Getting Hooked with Aaron & Barry” airs on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) every Saturday at 9 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m. (CDT) from January to June.
The three episodes on Rainy Lake and Rainy River will air this Saturday (Jan. 24), Jan. 31, and Feb. 7.
They catch everything from walleye to sturgeon in these adrenaline-injected episodes, so be sure to tune into OLN to watch one of the most exciting fishing shows on TV.
