The four Muskie court sports teams look to be quite happy to make themselves at home—even if it’s in somebody else’s roost.
Fort High ignored proper guest etiquette by sweeping the host Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action yesterday.
The junior Muskies (2-0) beat the Eagles (0-1) by a 3-1 count (25-13, 22-25, 25-15, and 25-18).
Then the senior squad (2-0) rolled over the Eagles (0-1) by a 3-0 margin (25-15, 25-22, and 25-21).
The Muskie girls’ basketball teams also held up their end of the bargain.
In junior play, Fort High (2-0) was solid defensively en route to a 27-19 win over Dryden (0-1) that wasn’t as close as the score indicated.
“We led 10-0 after four minutes and I started to play everyone after that,” noted Muskie coach Gord McCabe.
“It’s not that Dryden was horrible but we’ve got 15 players on our roster and I want everyone to get some playing time,” he reasoned.
Abby Sanders led the way with a game-high 16 points.
Meanwhile, the senior Muskies (2-0) battled to a 27-22 win over the Eagles (0-1).
Top scorers were not available at press time.
The junior girls are hosting their five-team home tournament—a straight round-robin affair—starting today at 1:30 p.m. against the St. Patrick Saints (Thunder Bay).
The Muskies then will lock horns with the Superior Gryphons (Thunder Bay) at 6 p.m.
Fort High will face the Kenora Broncos tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., the close out the tournament against Dryden at 3 p.m.
