Scared Hitless, SAM rule courts

Finishing on top during the regular season was one thing.
But doing it when it mattered most proved just as attainable a goal for Scared Hitless.
The regular-season champs of the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League repeated their achievement in the playoffs—capturing the league title last Thursday with a win over sixth-seeded Bump It Up.
Scared Hitless went a perfect 4-0 in the playoffs after entering the post-season as the top seed following a first-place finish in the standings with 77 points.
Bump It Up (5-2) tied defending champs Dig This with 52 points during the regular season, but got the tie-breaker nod to finish in sixth.
Then they went on a steady playoff run—splitting their first two matches to fall to the ‘B’ side before winning four-straight, including upset wins over second-place Alliance and the third-seeded Gillons’ Cougars.
Meanwhile, the eighth-annual Struchan Gilson Memorial Tournament, which was played Saturday at Fort High, was a case of SAM, bam, thank you, ma’am.
SAM defeated Whitefish Bay in straight sets in the title match to claim the event, named after the late Muskie volleyball and soccer coach.
A.R.A. wound up in third place while Paragon settled for fourth.
