Sabres trade Morton

The Fort Frances Jr. Sabres have dealt defenceman Zach Morton to the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Junior ‘A’ Hockey League for future considerations.
“It was a move that Zach asked for to be closer to home,” Sabres’ head coach Wayne Strachan said of the Cannington, Ont. native.
“We get resources again to find players to come in and build our team up for next season’s run,” he added.
Morton was acquired in late January from the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, tallying three assists in 16 games in a purely defensive role.
“Zach came in late to our hockey club and played well,” Strachan said. “He isn’t a flashy player, but he gets the job done.
“He is smart positionally, never gets himself in trouble, and plays physical.
“He will do well in Woodstock,” Strachan added.
