The Fort Frances Jr. Sabres, “Project Porchlight,” and Fort Frances Power Corp. teamed up last night to deliver door-to-door 1,400 free energy-efficient light bulbs to local residents.
But those who missed the giveaway need not fret—1,000 free compact fluorescent light bulbs also will be given away during the Sabres’ home game tonight against the Thunder Bay Bearcats.
“Project Porchlight” is an energy efficiency campaign run by “One Change,” an Ottawa-based non-profit organization that advocates community engagement and environmental sustainability.
The campaign promotes a practical and realistic way to use less electricity.
Volunteers and staff hand out—door-to-door and through community events—energy-efficient light bulbs.
Ontario is the site of one of Project Porchlight’s first province-wide campaigns.
