Press Release
The toy drive organized by the Sabres’ fan club toy during the team’s most recent two-game homestand on Nov. 27 and 29 was another big success.
Fans who donated toys had the chance to win prizes donated by local merchants, with Wendy Wreggitt claiming the top prize of a 26” flat screen HD television from Howarth’s Home Centre.
There also were multiple winners of gift certificates and cash prizes during the course of the two games.
Meanwhile, the fan club’s bake sale also raised $750. Thanks to all the Sabres’ fans for their baking—and to all those who purchased goods.
Watch for information on the fan club’s Christmas Turkey Bowl, which will be held Dec. 20 when the Sabres host the Dryden Ice Dogs.
In other news, Sabres’ players continue to show community spirit and contribute to the literacy of local students.
The “Adopt-a-School” program, now in its second year, continues to be a success story as Sabres’ players juggle practice and games, along with work, to find time to visit local schools for about an hour each week.
The players read to children, help with phys. ed. classes, deliver sports talks, and do an assortment of other classroom-related activities as set out by the teacher.
