Top-seeded Sight & Sound will meet eight-seeded Stratton tonight at 7:30 at VanJura Stadium here as the Rainy River District Fastball League kicks off playoff action.
Other action pits second-seeded Rainy River vs. seventh-seeded Pinewood, Barwick (#3) vs. Big Island (#6), and Big Grassy (#4) hosting Red Gut Bay (#5).
Tonight’s winners will advance to the ‘A’ bracket on Aug. 17 while the four losers will drop down to the ‘B.’
Sight & Sound and Rainy River ended up tied with 15-3 records after the regular season, but the Fort Frances-based team was given top spot by virtue of a better runs for and against differential.
Barwick was third at 10-8, followed by Big Grassy (9-9), Red Gut Bay (8-10), Big Island (8-10), Pinewood (6-10), and Stratton (5-13).
Last-place Sabaskong (4-14) did not qualify for the playoffs.
