Greg Ross fired a 72 to win the “Harry Barefoot” championship flight at the Memorial golf tournament Sunday at Kitchen Creek, finishing four strokes ahead of Mike Bolstad.
Rob Badiuk and Jim Kilmister each carded 77, one stroke better than Dean Wilson.
Gerry Hercun had a 76 to top the “Bob Biggs” first flight, one stroke ahead of Ian McLennan. Sean Taggart and Jeromy Wensley finished tied for third (79) while Konrad Sobkowicz was fourth (80).
Jason Hill captured the “Harvey Shute” second flight with an 80, three strokes ahead of Willy Cole. Dave Bruyere carded an 84 for third, followed by Peter Badiuk and Gord Taggart (85).
The third flight (which wasn’t assigned a name of a deceased club member) was won by Darryl Little, who carded an 88, one stroke better the Randy Katrin.
Conley Thayer and Al Holt tied for third (90), followed by Darcy Maguire (93).
Saturday saw the course host its first-ever “Burn the Mortgage” tournament to signify the final payment being made on a loan received from the government in 1977.
The team of Ian McLennan, Greg Baker, Blair Beadow, Doreen Fryer, and Jen AmOrde finished first after firing a 64 in the best ball format.
That was two strokes ahead of the foursome of Gord Lee, Jay Whitehead, Maurice Laforest, and Jean Camirand, and the team of Carol Livingston, Virgil Hyatt, Jack Kendall, Sharon Angus, and Mel Larson.
Finishing in a three-way tie for fourth with scores of 68 were the teams of Jeromy Wensley, Don Hughes, Jan Dolk, and Charles Sprovieri; the foursome of Gerry Hercun, Ernie Ling, Terry Ogden, and Doug Boyd; and Dave Bruyere, Willie Cole, Bill Hammond, and Adrian Bondett.
The foursome of Ron Patrick, Donna Lee, Jon Paul Patrick, and John Smith placed seventh with a 69, followed by Louis Sprovieri, Dave Zatulsky, Don Angus, and Dave Gregory (70).
Dave Bondett, Don Kerr, Bob Armit, Vi Plumridge, and Wayne George teamed up to shoot a 71.
