Rockets blast off against tagg’s

The Emo Rockets scored seven third-period goals to blast tagg’s (Fort Frances) 10-2 in recent Novice minor hockey action.
Ryan Witherspoon once again had the hot stick with five goals while Luke Judson (two), Chris Mutz, Charlie DeBungee, and Deanna Saunders rounded out the scoring.
Mitchel Cain scored both tagg’s goals.
In their second game, the Rockets mauled the visiting Times Tigers (Fort Frances) 5-1. DeBungee and Witherspoon each tallied twice while Judson netted the other goal.
Alex Shoemaker averted the whitewash.
Meanwhile, Food Town (Fort Frances) visited the Emo arena to tangle with the Emo Wings and skated home with a well-earned 1-1 tie, knotting the score in the second on Logan Allen’s marker.
Emo’s goal scorer was not listed.
In Atom action, the Emo Esso Leafs won both their games, first edging Fort Frances 4-3. Nathan DeBungie led the way with two goals while Tyler Cottam and T.J. Roen netted singles.
Matt McLellan, Tyler Harris, and Andrew Mickelson replied for the Fort.
It was a different story against MEC (Fort Frances) as the Leafs skated to a whopping 11-1 victory. Tyler Kinnear and DeBungie each had a hat trick, with Terry Carmody (two), T.J. Roen, Matt Beck, and William Brandon also scoring.
MEC’s goal scorer was not listed.
Meanwhile, the Emo Atom Selects outscored Causeway (Fort Frances) 5-3. Eric Soucy and Tyson Romyn bagged two each while Brian Wayash scored the other.
Matt Plante, Craig Johnson, and Tyler Harris replied for Causeway.
The Emo Predators also won both their game, scoring four second-period goals to earn a 5-2 win over visiting Esso (Fort Frances).
David Pollard and Elija Smith each scored twice while David Goodman had the other. Pat McCarthy and Andy Gerry replied for Esso.
Then the Predators drowned the visiting Sharks (Fort Frances) 2-0 on goals by Dylan McGinnis and Greg Hartlin.
Unfortunately, the Emo Blues couldn’t sing the same tune, coming out on the short end of the score both times.
First, the Legion (Fort Frances) hung on for a 5-3 victory. Travis Green and S. Fry led the way with two goals each while Marc Foley added the other.
Michael Sharp, Ken Vargas, and Whitebear Copenace replied for the Blues.
Then against the B•Macs, the Blues were down 4-0 after one period and never recovered en route to a 5-1 loss. Ian Lockman paced the Fort squad with two goals while Bryce Witherspoon, Eric Mosbeck, and Jeff Friesen netted singles.
Emo’s goal scorer was not given.
Finally, in Bantam action, the Emo Cowboys battled the Emo Panthers to a 4-4 tie.
Jake Boucher (two), Jesse Crawford, and Kyle McTavish scored for the Panthers with Jon Kinnear, Jason Caul, Jeremy Hyatt, and Jeff Hyatt replying for the Cowboys.
